Effective date: November 1, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Chairlift Studio LLC ("HOTDISH", "we", "us"), which makes HOTDISH. They cover the HOTDISH app, heyhotdish.com, and HOTDISH inside ChatGPT or Claude. By creating an account or using HOTDISH, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use HOTDISH.
1. HOTDISH
HOTDISH holds your household's recipes, helps plan the week's dinners from them, keeps a shared grocery list, sends reminders, and shows you what your friends cook. We keep improving it, so features change. If we take away something you pay for, we'll tell you first.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use HOTDISH for your own household, under these terms. If you got the app from the App Store, you may use it on Apple devices you own or control, as Apple's Usage Rules allow.
2. Your account
- You must be 13 or older to use HOTDISH. If you're under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
- Give us accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- One person per account.
- Households share everything. Each member can see and change all of the household's recipes, plans and list, and can invite others. Only invite people you trust with that.
3. Your content
"Your content" is what you put into HOTDISH: recipes, notes, edits, photos, reviews, posts and comments.
- You own your content.
- You give us permission to use it to run HOTDISH. That means storing it, copying it, resizing photos, reformatting recipes, syncing it to your household, and showing it to the people you share it with (your household, your friends, the people you send a link to). This permission is worldwide and royalty-free. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that your household or friends still have and backups that roll over.
- Only add content you have the right to use. Saving recipes for your own cooking is what HOTDISH is for. Don't use HOTDISH to publish other people's recipes, photos or writing as your own. When you save from a website or a post, HOTDISH keeps a credit and a link to the source; please leave it there.
- Shared links. When you share a recipe you saved from somewhere else, the page credits and links to the original, never shows the original's photos, and is kept out of search engines. A creator can ask us to take a shared page down (see section 4).
- Structured recipes may be reused. When HOTDISH reads a recipe from a public web page, the structured recipe (not your notes, edits or photos) may be reused when someone else saves the same link.
4. Copyright and takedowns
We respect creators. If you believe something on HOTDISH infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated copyright agent:
Copyright Agent, Chairlift Studio LLC
100 N Howard St, Ste R, Spokane, WA 99201
Phone: 206-552-8829
Email: support@heyhotdish.com (subject "Copyright notice")
Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512), your notice needs:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the work you believe is infringed;
- the material on HOTDISH you want removed, with its link (for example heyhotdish.com/r/…), so we can find it;
- your name, address, phone number and email;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorized by you, your agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you're the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
We remove or disable the material quickly and tell the person who posted it. If you posted it and think it was removed by mistake, you can send our agent a counter-notice with your signature, the material and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your name, address and phone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, outside the US, any district where we can be found) and to accept service from the person who sent the notice. We may then restore the material after 10 business days unless the other side tells us they've gone to court.
We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
Not a legal claim, just a preference? If you're a creator and you'd simply rather your recipe not be shared on a HOTDISH link, email support@heyhotdish.com with the link. We'll take it down, usually within one business day. No formal notice needed.
5. Friends, the feed and community rules
When friends and the feed are on, dinners you mark as made show to your friends unless you keep them to yourself. You can keep any one private, and mute, remove, block or report anyone.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Don't post or send:
- harassment, bullying, hate, or threats;
- sexual content or nudity;
- anything that sexualizes or endangers children;
- violence or gore;
- spam, scams or impersonation;
- photos of people who haven't agreed to be shown;
- anything illegal, or that infringes someone else's rights.
You can report any post, comment, photo or person. We review reports within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks these rules and suspend or ban the people who post it, and we may hide reported content while we look. We report child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and cooperate with law enforcement when the law requires it.
6. Using HOTDISH fairly
Don't misuse HOTDISH. That includes:
- getting around rate limits, security or Plus limits;
- accessing another household's data or account;
- scraping HOTDISH or using bots to access it, except through the connectors we offer;
- reverse engineering it, beyond what the law allows;
- overloading or disrupting our systems;
- using HOTDISH to get around another website's or platform's access rules or bot protection.
7. Food and cooking
HOTDISH is a planning and cooking helper, not professional, medical or nutrition advice. Recipes come from you, your friends and the sites and posts you save from. AI-read recipes, unit conversions, timers and reminders can be wrong. Use your own judgment. Check ingredients for allergies and dietary needs, follow safe food handling (thawing, cooking temperatures, storage), and keep an eye on anything cooking. A timer or reminder that doesn't go off is not a substitute for paying attention in the kitchen.
8. AI and connectors
Some features use AI to read and organize recipes. AI can get things wrong or leave things out, so check a recipe before you rely on it. We ask before your photos or pasted text are sent to AI (see the Privacy Policy).
If you connect HOTDISH to ChatGPT or Claude, that assistant can read and change your household's HOTDISH data when you ask it to. Those services' own terms apply to your use of them, and we aren't responsible for what a third-party assistant says or does. You can disconnect at any time in the assistant's settings.
9. HOTDISH Plus
- What it is. Plus adds features such as planning the whole week for you, unlimited AI recipe reading, and the ChatGPT and Claude connector. One subscription covers your whole household.
- Free trial. New households start with a free Plus trial, with no card needed. The app shows how long it lasts. When it ends, your household moves to the free plan and keeps its recipes and plans. A trial never turns into a paid subscription by itself. One trial per household.
- Price. Plus is $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year, plus any tax, unless the app or site shows a different price when you subscribe. The price you see before you confirm is the price you pay. People on our waitlist may be offered a founding-family price of $29.99 a year, which stays at that price for as long as the subscription renews without a break.
- Automatic renewal. Plus renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and you're charged the then-current price, until you cancel. For yearly plans, we'll remind you before each renewal.
- Cancel any time.
- If you subscribed in the app: iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge.
- If you subscribed on the web: use the link in your receipt email or in HOTDISH's Settings, or email support@heyhotdish.com.
- Canceling stops the next renewal. You keep Plus until the end of the period you've paid for, and you keep all your recipes after.
- Refunds.
- App Store purchases are refunded by Apple under its policies. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Web purchases: if you're charged for a renewal you didn't mean to keep, email us within 14 days of the charge and we'll refund it. Otherwise, payments aren't refundable for partial periods, except where the law requires.
- Who handles payment. In the app, Apple handles the payment under Apple's terms. On the web, Stripe handles it. If your receipt names Link, Stripe's checkout service, as the seller, Link's terms also apply to that purchase, and you can manage it at link.com.
- Price changes. We'll tell you before a new price applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it does.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account in the app at any time: Settings, then Delete account. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it in your iPhone's Settings too.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people or HOTDISH at risk. When it's reasonable, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to fix it.
Sections 3 (the last two bullets), 4, 7, and 11 to 16 still apply after your account ends.
11. Disclaimers
HOTDISH is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that HOTDISH will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that reminders and timers will always arrive on time.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about HOTDISH is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
13. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you posted or your breaking these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows.
14. Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you have a problem, please email support@heyhotdish.com first, and give us 30 days to try to sort it out. If we can't, either of us may bring a claim in the state or federal courts in King County, Washington, and we both agree to those courts' jurisdiction. Either of us may bring a claim in small claims court instead, where it qualifies. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away any rights you have under the laws of the place you live.
15. Apple
If you got HOTDISH from the App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for HOTDISH and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for HOTDISH.
- If HOTDISH fails to meet a warranty that applies, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple isn't responsible for any claims about HOTDISH, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection or privacy claims, or claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property. We are, as these terms describe.
- You confirm that you're not in a country under a US government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when you use HOTDISH, such as your wireless carrier's.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you.
16. The rest
- Changes. We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using HOTDISH after that, you accept the new terms.
- Email. You agree we can send you messages about your account and these terms electronically.
- The whole agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about HOTDISH. If part of them can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given it up. You can't transfer these terms; we can, for example if HOTDISH is sold.
